We were blessed with Nicco's presence in our house on Thanksgiving Day. I've wanted a Bracco Italiano for many, many years. Many thanks enough to Lane and Dan for giving me this opportunity. Nicco will be a show dog in ARBA and IABCA and may eventually compete in NAVHDA field events.

My main breed is Weimaraners - I have been successfully involved with them for over 15 years. You can see my Weimaraners here http://www.foxfireweim.com. Nicco is my hot n' spicy little Italian fling !

Please check out the links at the top of the page to learn more about Nicco, the Bracco Italiano breed, and see pictures of the boy in his habitat.

The Bracco Italiano is an ancient breed, it has been noted in paintings and writings from the 4th and 5th centuries BC. It is thought to have come about from crossing a mastiff type dog with an Egyptian coursing hound. In the 1700's Italian hunters developed this dog for hunting, tracking and pointing game. Before guns were used for hunting these dogs were used to drive game into the hunters nets.

Bracco Italiano are not a difficult dog to train as long as there is consistency and firmness in the training. They are intelligent and eager to learn and to please. It should be remembered that Bracchi are sensitive and training should be carried out in a gentle, consistent manner.

They are intelligent, faithful and loving dogs, which get on well with children and other dogs. They are ideally suited to the active country dwelling family and will happily be both family and working dogs in one. They are not the best breed for the novice owner or an apartment dweller.
